Our top picks for skateboarding events in December
Grind For Life Series in Florida
The Grind for Life Series reaches its Season Finals and Annual Awards for 2022 in the city of Tampa, USA, on the 2nd and 3rd of December. That means you can enjoy free skateboarding at Boardr’s indoor skatepark in Tampa on those dates, from noon to 6pm.
The partners behind this event are USA Skateboarding and global event organiser The Boardr – which is why the venue is at Boardr’s Florida HQ.
Practising takes place on Friday and the comps are throughout Saturday, with a great range of ages and abilities catered for.
The emphasis is on Street and Bowl, and the event is the culmination of a series of fixtures to raise money for the non-profit Grind for Life Organisation, which helps cancer patients with travel expenses.
More details about this winter skateboarding event in Florida can be found on the Boardr website, where you can also register to take part.
USA Skateboarding National Championships in California
This one is also early in the month, as the USA Skateboarding National Championships 2022 is from 2nd to 4th December, in Vista, California.
The venue is the Elite Skateboarding Training Facility known as CA TF, and naturally, it is backed by lead body USA Skateboarding.
Interestingly, this event is a combination of both in-person and virtual participation. There is a digital qualifying process to take part in the street and park skateboarding contest.
Note, this one is not open to spectators and to qualify you must be a US citizen. It’s for minors and adults and of course both genders.
For details on how to submit your qualifying video and other event intel, head to the USA Skateboarding website.
North East Skate Park Series in Australia
If you fancy a winter trip to Oz, then the North East Skate Park Series event in Nagambie Skate Park, Victoria could be highly enticing.
It’s another of the global Street Skateboarding Events in early December, as it takes place on Saturday the 3rd and it is designed to get as many people involved as possible
This event is also part of a series of tour fixtures – involving an all age’s youth skates, BMX & scooter competitions and music events – at skate parks across the northeast of Victoria.
So naturally, this Nagambie Skate Park fixture in December will be a true grassroots skateboarding event, supported by Skate Australia and Skate Park Leagues (SPL).
The previous tour schedule and details that can help you to plan your trip to the Nagambie Skate Park event are on Facebook.
Mini Ramp Pro Attack in Brazil
If Brazil sounds more appealing for a winter break, one of the best Skateboarding Events in December is undoubtedly the Mini Ramp Pro Attack. This is being held on the 3rd and 4th, at Vale do Paraíba, São Paulo.
The lead body is Skate Total Urbe (STU) which organises Street and Park competitions in Latin America, and further afield.
You can get a feel for what’s involved by going to Instagram and Facebook.
Red Bull Cold Bowl in Philadelphia
The Red Bull Cold Bowl – Philly Invitational takes place from 8th to 10th December and as the name suggests, it’s a Bowl skateboarding event in the US State.
It offers a great place to do indoor board riding, in the Wharton Street Warehouse Skatepark.
The event is being organised by Red Bull (clearly) and registration is via the Red Bull website.
You need to get in quickly though, as the number of entrants is capped to make this an exciting contest for boarders aged 16 and upwards.
